recently I've been worrying over my job and whether I can carry on doing it and not hate myself. I just finished watching Torchwood: Children of Earth and now I feel about 10,000x worse, I should have known better after having watched Taking Liberties the other night >:(
I had a most excellent day on Saturday. I went to the UK minicomics Thing with blonde_viki and torallion (thanks for coming with me guys!)and met lots of lovely people and got a whole bag full of comics to read :D We also went camping stuff shopping and I am now the proud owner of replacement folding cutlery - I used to have some but lost it many years ago. I gave in to my impending Old Lady status and bought a Thermarest and a camping pillow. I feel quite a fraud as I am one of those terrible campers who try to fit everything into a single bag and only wear 1 pair of socks for a week. A pillow seems like the ultimate luxury :P However, I was really knackered when we got home and slept on it for a while - it is the best thing ever! I don't know how I survived without it for so long.
Today I probably need to get some holiday clothes as my wardrobe very sadly consists solely of work trousers and black jumpers.
Well, I haven't been around on lj much for past few months - at least not to post. I have been keeping up with reading my friends page and commenting here and there. I'm not sure why I haven't felt like posting on here, it's probably partly to do with not actually having done anything exciting and partially just because I'm rubbish and go through these long periods of can't-be-arsedness.
Quick catch up:
I'm moving house soon, away from my flat and over to near the park which will be nice, I can have people over for park parties!
I'm still in the same job, which I'm really grateful for as I know a lot of people who have had had real problems with redundancy etc. recently.
I'm going camping soon. Yay for the outdoors and insects and sunshine and stomping up hills!
I'm going to the UK Web and Minicomics Thing on March 28, where I fully intend to buy a large number of comics and then read them all on the way home.
Watchmen was bloody fantastic - I could happily watch the opening sequence over and over until my eyes fell out IT WAS THAT GREAT.
Yesterday I completed one of my 101 things goals by managing to post at least one entry per week for a year on my journal. Granted, not many of my entries were interesting or useful (some were terrible whiny/boring/navel-gaze-y things so I made them private :P), but as someone who never manages to to keep a paper journal on a regular basis, I'm quite pleased that I did manage to do this as a regular thing!
Today was the first day of my new job. It all went ok, my new team seem very nice. Although, as per usual with where I work, there is going to be a huge re-organisation of everything it's just that no-one knows exactly what it involves yet. I will just get used to things and then it will all change! I have stopped worrying about it now as it is just something that happens here ;)
We went to Wovlerhampton for Easter Weekend. It was actualy pretty good. We went out for dinner with Carl's parents and youngest brother - something we almost never do. We visited all the great-grandparents, as I didn't get to go at Christmas.
We took Sam to Forbidden Planet to see al the Star Wars stuff (his latest obsession), he decided he wanted to spend his saved up pocket money on something. He gets a pound a week and seems to have understood the whole "if you save it up instead of spending it straight away you can buy something more fun". He bought a model X-Wing. Carl spent most of the day putting it together with him, he is very pleased with it.
I managed to cook dinner for 8 people on Saturday without burning down my house or poisoning anyone! I did flood the house with smoke and had to leave the doors open for 3 hours, but that's ok, I still count it a success ;)
I made quiche and cake, (other stuff too, but quiche and cake were the interesting parts).
